A new SKA band is born: The Jackanapes.
The Jackanapes originated from the ska band Wisehead, which performed for over seven years. Highlights were the two shows
in the Dutch temple of pop Paradiso in Amsterdam, the gigs in Germany and Belgium, the Poland tour and the various live
performances on Dutch regional television and national radio stations. Together with a new impressive singer and the return
Wisehead's drummer from the first hour, The Jackanapes are ready to skank.
For about 1,5 years the band worked on a new set of energetic and skankable ska. Inspired by bands like Laurel Aitken, The
Slackers and Bob Marley in his early years, the band plays authentic, energetic ska with a mature, raw sound. Last summer
the first live and studio recordings have been made. The recordings have made such an impression on Mad Butcher records,
that the song ‘Figure It Out’ has been released on the Skannibal Part Vol. 9 compilation CD in November 2009. More recordings
will follow soon and also the band is planning to make a music video. After the first shows The Jackanapes are filling up
their agenda for 2010, so The Jackanapes can be seen live on stage more and more. We’ll keep you posted!
